Green Energy Future for the UK

Well, whod’ve thought. Since our last two posts bemoaning the lack of action from the UK authorities on renewable green energy for the UK, there has been a flurry of publicity regarding the agreement of the UK government to match the EU renewables target of 15% of energy supply from renewable sources by 2020. There has been widespread scepticism from many observers as to whether these targets are indeed possible for the UK to achieve. We tend to feel that it will be a monumental effort to attain this level of renewable supply, however, any initiatives and general publicity for green energy are to be welcomed (even if green eletricity & gas isnt going to come cheap!)-it does seem that momentum starting to build at last.

UPDATE 26/06/08

Details of the government plans are announced today, back later with more………….

  1. Hi,
Totally agree! I’ve read that the UK government is looking to invest £100 billion into the scheme. Bring on the changes!

  2. About time too

The UK can now concentrate on leading the world in green energy, as it should have along time ago.Got a bit of catching up to do with Germany, but we can now put the ‘great’ in Great Britain again.
